Finally, the cracks in the official 9/11 story are beginning to widen. Two congressmen— alarmed by what they have read about financial and logistical support of top Saudi officials for the purported 9/11 hijackers—are demanding that President Obama declassify a report that would tell us much more about what the US government knows.
The anniversary of the 9/11 attacks seems the right moment to remind people how even very solid, careful reporting of apparent “deep politics” links in the attacks has never entered the larger American conversation. The story of the Saudi connection to a house in Sarasota, Florida, is must reading. It also is useful to consider given the established role of Saudi intelligence in the Syrian uprising.
Like most of the corporate media, the New York Times has been largely AWOL from investigations of disturbing events like the Boston bombing, 9/11, and Bush’s misleading the public into war. But it’s right out there on the front lines fighting against those who ask questions.. And the fighting is dirty.
Did you hear? The corporate media has finally found a safe way into the 9/11 investigation story, one where they have long feared to delve. The process is extremely telling about the deficiencies of our media establishment—and about the ways most of us get our information.
Recently, Twitter announced it would restrict tweets in countries where the government declares the tweets illegal. That troubling announcement was treated by the American media as a blip. But is it a blip? Or is it a crisis for freedom everywhere? And did a huge investment in Twitter by a Saudi prince have anything to do with the move?
