Lauren Boebert and other members of the GOP are learning an important lesson this week about the equal application of the law courtesy of Hunter Biden.

The way Republicans tell it, President Joe Biden, a.k.a. “The Big Guy,” is the head of an expansive crime family that is raking in millions while escaping any kind of accountability. However, for that to be true, Hunter Biden, the president’s son, is getting indicted way too much while his father is the head of the government.

The GOP narrative took another blow this week when federal prosecutors in California announced that they are indicting Hunter on nine new counts related to his failure to pay taxes. As it turns out, when you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on hookers and blow but not your taxes, at some point the IRS comes calling. And, contrary to what Republicans would have you believe, this even applies to the president’s son.

At least what Hunter did makes for an entertaining read. And we encourage all of our readers to learn more about his exploits in the official indictment.

The news of the indictment left some Republicans scratching their heads as to how such a thing could have happened. Take Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO), the GOP firebrand who can’t quite wrap her head around the concept of the equal application of the law: “Hunter Biden made $1,664,004 in ‘ATM cash withdrawals.’ Spent $683,212 in payments to ‘various women.’ And spent $188,960 on ‘adult entertainment.’ But ZERO on income tax. FOR YEARS. Imagine if that was you or me.”

Well, Lauren, based on today’s new evidence, if that were you, you would probably be indicted as well because that’s how the system is supposed to work.

And while Republicans have been busy trying to gut the IRS so that rich people like Hunter Biden can get away with tax crimes, Democrats have added money to IRS enforcement so that these people get caught. It might not happen immediately, but if the feds can indict the son of a sitting president, then the system clearly works.

Sadly for the GOP, the new indictment really blows a hole in all of their theories related to the “Biden crime family.”

Joe Biden must be the worst crime boss in history when he can’t even use his position as commander in chief to protect his remaining son from pesky prosecutors who don’t like the fact that he paid prostitutes and not the federal government.

In addition, the new indictment also offers zero evidence that the president personally benefited from whatever business deals other family members were making. That, of course, would be the basis for a legitimate impeachment inquiry (at least as long as Joe Biden held a position of power while profiting from such transactions). However, Republicans have unearthed precisely zero evidence that this happened, and this is a fact that even Fox News had to acknowledge Friday:

“The House Oversight Committee has been at this for years, and they have so far not been able to provide any concrete evidence that Joe Biden personally profited from his son Hunter’s overseas business.”

Therefore it is fair to say that while it has not been a great week for Hunter Biden, in some ways it’s even worse for Republicans.
