If you are wondering why House Republicans want to open an impeachment probe of President Joe Biden even though they have so far presented no evidence that he committed any crime or impeachable offense, look no further than to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who said the quiet part out loud yet again.

On Sunday, she laid out the first part of the GOP’s strategy, which is to start an unparalleled fishing expedition in the hopes of revealing anything that could damage the president. Obviously, for House lawmakers, this doesn’t have to be actual proof of wrongdoing, just something that allows them to make allegations on TV.

And if the White House doesn’t comply with even the most ridiculous request for information, then the GOP’s impeachment fetishists like Greene or Reps. Jim Jordan (OH) and James Comer (KY) will simply complain about obstruction.

You may be asking yourself what kind of narrowly tailored documents the Republican investigators will be looking for. Seeing how they have been probing “the Bidens” for months (without doing much of anything else), you might think that they have a very specific list of things they would like to lay their eyes on.

Well, let’s see what Greene has to say about that.

“It’s time to require Joe Biden to show all communications in his name and aliases, all bank account statements, sources of income, visitor log and meeting details from Delaware home, all cell phones and email communications, and list of prescription medications that mask his mental decline because we are about to vote to open an impeachment inquiry,” Greene tweeted.

So, in other words, the GOP wants Biden to hand over every document short of his elementary school grades, Valentine’s Day cards, and daily stool samples.

Obviously, you might say: Well, that’s just Greene. She is a well-known nutjob, and the only reason she should ever have found herself in Congress was because Donald Trump told her to storm it on January 6 along with like-minded people.

And to that we respond: Absolutely correct!

However, many Republicans are now loons, so that’s not really a disqualifying characteristic in today’s GOP.

More importantly, within just a couple of years, Greene has morphed from a QAnon conspiracy theory-spreading lunatic to a legitimate force in the GOP.

She has gone so mainstream that the right-wing Freedom Caucus has kicked her out. In addition, while that might seem like a terrible joke, Greene has said that her name is on the list of Donald Trump’s potential vice presidential candidates.

That means that, even though she is a very unserious person, she still has to be taken seriously.

Therefore, her tweet likely does not represent the ramblings of a madwoman (although perhaps that as well). Instead, it is probably a real glimpse at the true Republican impeachment strategy: Demand a unreasonably large number of documents and claim obstruction when they are not turned over.
