Republicans keep saying the quiet part out loud, so we are wondering what it would look like if they actually told their voters the truth.

While Democrats listen to consultants and focus groups too much, Republicans may want to hire a couple of competent strategists to help them with messaging ahead of next year’s midterm elections. Or, at the very least, they will want to make sure that Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) isn’t involved.

When confronted by angry voters who pointed out during a town hall meeting that the GOP’s cuts to Medicaid and food benefits are going to kill people, Ernst laconically answered: “Well, we are all going to die.”

Although that is true, it is probably not the response that the millions of Americans are looking for who will lose their health insurance if Republicans pass Donald Trump’s massive reconciliation bill. It’s also not terribly encouraging for the parents of children who will go hungry without food from the government’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that the GOP wants to cut.

We do, however, applaud Ernst’s honesty… especially because Republicans have otherwise been incredibly deceitful when it comes to touting the benefits of the “Big, Beautiful Bill.”

And, to show our appreciation, we would like to offer a few more slogans that the GOP should consider as they prepare to defend their congressional majorities.

“We’ll settle future generations with a Big, Beautiful Bill… for $4 trillion.”

While Republicans like to pretend that the legislation reduces the deficit because it slashes funding for programs like Medicaid and SNAP, every penny saved goes straight to tax cuts for the richest Americans, who are the main beneficiaries of the legislation. Those at the bottom, however, will lose out because the modest amount of money they save in taxes will not be enough to offset the extra costs they incur as a result of these GOP cuts.

Along those lines, we’d also like to suggest the following: “Oh SNAP, you can’t feed your kids anymore!”

Or perhaps: “Peasants, tighten your belts! Elon has more child support payments to make.”

Of course, Republicans are not just going to run on their Big, Beautiful Bill. There is also the rest of Trump’s economic agenda that they could sell with slogans like:

“Listen to President Trump: More than one doll in each hand is too many for American girls.”

“We call it tariffs so Americans don’t realize they will end up paying more.”

Finally, here are a couple more honest slogans that Republicans may want to try out to appeal to their voters:

“Please keep watching Fox News or we are doomed.”

“We can win if your number one issue is trans athletes.”

Or, in the rare case of Republicans like Lisa Murkowski who consider standing up to Trump or the MAGA agenda:

“We are scared of you. Please don’t hurt our families!”
