If You Like Sane Presidents, It’s Been a Bad 24 Hours

10/14/26

This is your periodic reminder that Donald Trump is crazy.

The headline is a bit misleading because, if you are a fan of sane American presidents, it’s been a very bad 632 days — but who’s counting? To be fair, it wasn’t a great four years previously if you like your commander-in-chief on top of his game.

And, for completely different reasons, the time from early 2009 to the start of 2017 was downright terrible for bigots, which is how we ended up with the current weirdo… twice.

But we digress.

The point is that Donald Trump is nuts, and we would be failing as journalists if we did not periodically point this out to our readers.

Take the past 24 hours.

First, he fired off a social media post about how “Massive Oil, Gas, and Mineral Exploration is getting ready to begin in our new and beautiful Greenland!”

Obviously, there is no “our Greenland,” and, according to local officials, there is also no “massive oil, gas, and mineral exploration” happening. This is yet another thing that is taking place only in Trump’s head, just like all those awesome polls showing how popular he is, dropping prices, imminent Strait of Hormuz deals, vandals using box cutters to slash the lining of the Reflecting Pool, etc.

To be fair to an aging president who has never been overly bright, an alternative explanation is that someone in the White House keeps showing him AI-generated videos of all of those things and he believes them.

Which brings us to what happened before the Greenland post.

That’s when Trump, for reasons that we cannot even begin to fathom, thought it would be prudent to share a video of a man right before he was killed by a tiger in the United Kingdom on Saturday.

Apparently, that got the president of the United States of America in the mood for some “big cat vs. humans” violence because he then shared a compilation of similar attacks.

Ordinarily, we don’t think that this would be a great use of time for a commander-in-chief during a period of military conflict and economic turmoil, but, to be honest, it’s probably better for Trump to do this than to cut another deal with Vladimir Putin.

In any case, a few hours later, Trump’s troubled mind was apparently still focused on tigers, which is why he shared this insane video.

While we know that it is AI-generated, we are not so sure that Trump does. There is a non-zero chance that he believes that this really happened and will talk about it in a future campaign rally.

That clip was followed by two dozen videos with which he tried to make himself feel better, including the taxpayer-funded ads that the White House (illegally) put together.

Mind you, all of this is happening in the middle of the night, which is probably why Trump keeps nodding off during Oval Office events.
