Blanche Kills Irony in Front of Cops and Police Academy Cadets
Todd Blanche, who conspired with Donald Trump to richly reward the January 6 insurrectionists found guilty of assaulting Capitol Police officers, somehow managed to keep a straight face on Friday when he said that he would prosecute anybody who "touches a federal law enforcement officer in any way inappropriate."

Newly confirmed Attorney General Todd Blanche on Friday committed murder on national TV and in front of an audience consisting of law enforcement officers and police academy cadets.
Specifically, he killed irony.
“In my Department of Justice, if anybody touches a federal law enforcement officer in any way inappropriate, we will prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law,” he said at a thinly disguised campaign event for Nassau County executive Bruce Blakeman (R), who is running for New York governor.
We don’t even know where to begin.
First of all, why is an attorney general speaking at a political rally (even one that is billed as a presidential tour of a police academy)?
As some of our readers may recall, ten years ago, then Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton had an unplanned, 30-minute meeting on the tarmac of a Phoenix airport. At the time, DOJ was investigating Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, which made this a big deal.
Even Democrats were critical of the meeting, with Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) saying that it sent “the wrong signal” and that Lynch, as attorney general, “Should have steered clear, even of a brief, casual social meeting with the former president.”
How quaint!
Now, Blanche is publicly professing his love for Donald Trump, aka his former and current client.
His appearance at the event alone shows that he is wholly unfit to serve as “the people’s lawyer,” and that his confirmation last week is an affront to the mission of DOJ.
And then, of course, it is mind-boggling that Blanche managed to keep a straight face when saying this.
After all, his confirmation was almost derailed because he refused to confirm in writing that the hilariously misnamed “anti-weaponization fund” that he helped put together as part of Donald Trump’s crooked settlement deal against the IRS was truly dead.
That slush fund to reward people who committed crimes on behalf of the president with nearly $2 billion in taxpayer money was negotiated between Trump, Trump’s DOJ, and Trump’s IRS.
Last month, a federal judge tossed the settlement because the underlying lawsuit was “brought to manipulate the judicial process.” At the time, she also referred the matter to the state bar of New York for potential disciplinary actions against Blanche.
Of course, many of those who were supposed to be showered with that slush fund money were convicted of assaulting Capitol Police officers, aka “federal law enforcement officers,” which makes Blanche’s statement especially laughable.
Then again, maybe he was being honest and he doesn’t consider violence against cops to be “inappropriate” when it is committed on behalf of Trump.
All of this would be quite comical if it weren’t so offensive that somebody now serves as attorney general who is clearly more loyal to the president than the American people and the cause of justice.
