Israel Predictably Rejects Trump’s ‘HISTORIC’ Hamas Disarmament Deal

08/09/26

What is most surprising about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rejection of a disarmament deal in Gaza that was supposed to lead to Palestinian self-rule is that anybody believed Donald Trump that this agreement existed in the first place.

Astute readers will have noticed that we didn’t write a story on Donald Trump’s announcement last week that his “Board of Peace” had reached a “HISTORIC” agreement regarding the “COMPLETE DISARMAMENT” of the terrorist group Hamas that would pave the way to “finally” putting Gaza in the hands of a “new Palestinian government that serves its PEOPLE.”

So, why didn’t we? We’re glad you asked.

While that kind of landmark deal would seem worthy of being covered and analyzed extensively, we chose not to do so for the same reason why we didn’t write about the prediction of a Brazilian “psychic” with 25 million Instagram followers that aliens would abduct players and spectators from a World Cup game in Miami on June 24.

In retrospect, our news judgment turned out to be correct in both cases. To be fair, based on the track records of both Trump and the psychic, this wasn’t much of a feat.

In the end, the extraterrestrials chose to let the match play out without abducting anybody, and Israel rejected the disarmament deal because it has no interest in giving back any of the land it has seized from the Palestinians.

“Israel does not accept the 15-point document,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday. “The [Israeli Defense Forces] will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is disarmed. And when I say the disarming of Hamas, it means heavy weaponry, lighter weaponry, all weaponry. And we are talking about genuine disarmament, not fictitious disarmament.”

Obviously, that’s a very tall order, which is the point because it will allow Israel to continue its occupation indefinitely.

Netanyahu also emphasized that, under his leadership, there will be no Palestinian state anywhere.

Clearly, reaching any kind of disarmament or peace deal was always going to be a heavy lift, which is why this isn’t a criticism of Trump for failing where so many others have been unsuccessful as well. It’s also not a criticism of a psychic for making very lucrative predictions.

Instead, it’s a criticism of those who believe them.

See, we actually did mention the supposed deal last week in a column on the very subject of people still getting duped by the president:

Just in the past few days, there was a civilian nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia until there wasn’t; Ukraine was being allowed to manufacture its own Patriot missiles until it wasn’t; and a peace deal between Israel and Hamas was reached which will likely not materialize — not to speak of the few dozen times when Iran supposedly begged Trump to cut a deal to end that war (which isn’t even a war and, in any case, has been won many times already).

In other words, we knew this was coming. So why are others in the media still treating anything Trump says as though he has any credibility on anything?

We honestly don’t know.

And, to be clear, we don’t want to make light of the suffering of people in Israel and Gaza.

We believe that neither Hamas nor Netanyahu’s regime has any interest in stopping the killing. Each side would annihilate the other if given the chance (and both of them are trying), which means more death, destruction, and desolation in Gaza and Israel.

What we do want, however, is to use this example as exhibit number 52725 of why people, and journalists in particular, should stop believing Trump… and Brazilian psychics.
