Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s (R-AL) blocking of military appointments is not over completely. This is all part Republican obstruction of democracy at every level. If Democrats win elections, Republicans do everything they can to sabotage and undermine their power.

Tuberville now claims he has lifted his holds on about 440 military promotions. “Everybody but the 10 or 11 four-stars,” he said. “Those will continue.” According to Liz Cheney, Tuberville’s goal has been to hold military promotions so that Donald Trump can fill them with Trump loyalists if he wins in 2024. It also serves to diminish the power of Democrats by showing that a Florida man pretending to be from Alabama can shut down the appointments of the sitting president.
