Wisconsin is one of the country’s most gerrymandered states… and Republicans want to keep it that way in Tuesday’s Supreme Court election.

After buying himself a president, Elon Musk is now trying to protect his investment by ensuring that Donald Trump can continue to rely on a GOP House majority after next year’s midterm election. And that is why he is pouring millions of dollars into Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race.
If you are paying any attention to Tuesday’s election, then you will know about the billionaire’s (likely illegal and certainly shady) offer to give a few lucky Wisconsinites $1 million for signing a pledge to oppose “activist judges,” which is Muskish for “judges who prevent me from dismantling the government.”
However, we would like to focus on another aspect of his involvement in this race: Once again, the self-proclaimed truth-teller is lying to the American people.
This time, Musk is claiming that a vote for Democrat Susan Crawford would lead to the gerrymandering of the Badger State, which is a brazen distortion of reality.

“We’re trying to stop the Democrats from gerrymandering Wisconsin,” he said on Fox News, making it sound as though the Democrats were planning something nefarious.
The opposite is true.
Yes, Democrats hope that Crawford will tilt the balance of Wisconsin’s Supreme Court their way, and this could result in new congressional districts being drawn.
However, this would not be a gerrymander; it would be the opposite of one.
Consider this: In the 2024 election, Trump won Wisconsin by about 30,000 votes, which is less than one percent.
In 2022, Democrat Tony Evers won the gubernatorial election by less than 100,000 votes.
Wisconsin has one Democratic senator and one Republican.
In other words, this is a state that is one of the most evenly split in the country.
Therefore, one might think that Wisconsin’s eight seats in the House of Representatives would also be equitably divided between Democrats and Republicans.
However, that is not the case. In fact, Wisconsin is one of the most gerrymandered states in the nation, which has made elections there a travesty.
For example, in 2018, Democrats won 54 percent of the popular vote but only 36 out of 99 seats in the State Assembly.
Oh, and that congressional delegation consists of six Republicans and two Democrats.
Therefore, pretending that Democrats would try to “gerrymander” Wisconsin by putting in place a map that ensures that the congressional delegation represents the will of the state’s voters is shameless… even for a serial liar like Musk.
Predictably, however, this has become the main talking point for Republicans backing their candidate, Brad Schimel… because if you can count on one thing, it’s that GOP voters will just accept any narrative that sounds right to them without checking whether it makes a modicum of sense.
This does not.
Wisconsinites can vote for whomever they want in this race, but if they want to cast their ballots based on who opposes gerrymandering, then Crawford is the only choice.
