Co-President Musk is crippling agencies that treat immigrants, people of color, women, and LBGTQ Americans as full citizens.

President Donald Trump’s very own Rasputin, Elon Musk, is rampaging through our government agencies and systems, looking to cherry pick “suspicious” sounding records that he can hold up at press conferences and lie about to scare citizens into submitting to draconian austerity measures. Trump is giving Musk and his barely post-pubescent team of “fraud” sleuthers virtually unlimited access to our most private information.

Just imagine Musk in his fortress of solitude issuing directives to the eager DOGE boys:

I see you found that Mary Doe in LeClaire, IA, is on Social Security, but she underpaid her taxes in 2020 by $35. She also donated to that communist Democrat, Christina Bohannan, for Congress. Make sure Mary’s SSI checks are late and have the IRS audit her.

OK, boys, that’s just an example of the power we can wield. Now use that same approach but be sure to look for VA overpayments, people who voted for independents, odd tax deductions, etc. And be sure to limit your research to Democrats of all incomes and all people making under $75,000 per year.

You get the idea. This marauding through the federal government’s systems to cut off payments, fire people, close down agencies, and fabricate bogus scandals to justify it has to stop. The courts may offer some relief, but are moving slowly. No one can predict whether the Supreme Court will give this rampage the green light, or offer some resistance to King Donald.

One thing that may ultimately put the brakes on implementation of 2025 austerity is to lower approval ratings for Trump and his Republican toadies. Regular people can help accomplish this by getting active locally, supporting political candidates, communicating online and with friends and family, and by supporting organizations working to protect democracy.
