Donald Trump and his MAGA enablers jumped with excitement when Joe Biden briefly stumbled over his words while addressing Trump’s Madison Square Garden hate-fest, sparking pearl-clutching in DC.

The media and the public reacted with shock and disgust to the parade of horrible “speeches” at Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden. Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe kicked off the night by punching down against Blacks, Hispanics, women, Jews, Palestinians, and Puerto Ricans — famously calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”

For a roast comic, he didn’t poke fun at any of the powerful white men in the room. Many of the other speakers spewed a profane mix of misogyny, racism, religious zealotry, and anti-Democrat screeds.

Here is a highlight reel of some of the speeches from that night at the Garden.

The Trump campaign, and their media partners, manufactured a three-day news story when Joe Biden stuttered while rebuking the speakers at the rally. Everyone knows what Biden meant to say. Some of the press embarrassed themselves trying to pretend this story offsets all of the constant hate speech from Trump and his surrogates. They’re wishing it to be a get-out-of-jail-free card for 10 years of abusive rhetoric.

Donald Trump makes foul comments about anyone who opposes him or stands in his way. He didn’t disappoint his fans in this regard at the Garden. This isn’t a new phenomenon; Trump learned this behavior from his former attorney and mentor, Roy Cohn. He follows Cohn’s three rules

  1. Always be on the attack.
  2. Admit nothing and deny everything.
  3. Always claim victory and never admit defeat.

Trump has been channeling this guidance since the ’80s. It is so exhausting.

I pray that this schtick is finally getting old for civic-minded citizens of these United States. Perhaps this Tuesday, Americans will vote against this toxic, infectious, cancerous approach to politics and vote in favor of honesty, hard work, and civility.
