Trump's words seem designed to encourage his supporters and MAGA acolytes to denigrate the rest of his fellow Americans as miscreants and traitors.

Back in 2016, when Hillary Clinton said that half of Donald Trump’s supporters could fit into a “basket of deplorables,” the media turned her ill-considered statement into a gigantic scandal. Today, when we have a president who admits he hates all Democrats and repeatedly calls them vile names, it’s just another day in Trump’s America.
President Trump uses his most hateful language to troll his opponents. This signals to the lowest bottom-feeders in the MAGA world that they can and should hate his detractors with cult-like zeal.
Here are just a few examples of the president’s daily vilification of duly elected and appointed officials with whom he disagrees:
Trump regularly labels Democrats “sick people.” And one may suppose he thought he was being clever when, talking about the Democratic Party’s unwillingness to support the GOP’s agenda, he called Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer a “Palestinian” — which, in Trump’s mouth, constitutes a slur, especially when applied to the Jewish Schumer.
Continuing his invective against the Democrats who failed to vote for his One Big Beautiful Bill, Trump confided to a crowd of adoring supporters:
I hate them, too. You know that? I really do, I hate them. I cannot stand them, because I really believe they hate our country, you want to know the truth.
No occasion is too solemn or sacred for him to spew venom at his perceived enemies, as in this year’s Easter Sunday message to the nation, when he said:
Happy Easter to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting and scheming so hard to bring Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, the Mentally Insane, and well-known MS-13 Gang Members and Wife Beaters back into our Country.
Happy Easter also to the WEAK and INEFFECTIVE Judges and Law Enforcement Officials who are allowing this sinister attack on our Nation to continue, an attack so violent that it will never be forgotten!
Bad things have been happening in our land. Trump often accuses others of being responsible for the very harms that he has instigated. We can’t know for sure whether Trump was an inspiration for these terrible incidents. But, as history reminds us, hostility and hate have a way of becoming contagious, especially when continually modeled by a widely worshipped demagogue.
