President Donald J. Trump is letting his largest campaign contributor run wild throughout the data systems of the federal government.

Elon Musk has enabled a crew of very young acolytes to act as digital stormtroopers. They appear to have connected servers to government systems and may be downloading records for some nefarious purpose. The big problem is that citizens don’t have any idea what they’re up to. It may be illegal and it’s definitely putting the full faith and credit of the United States at risk.

Musk has breached the inner sanctum of America’s golden goose, the Bureau of the Fiscal Service. According to Wikipedia

The Bureau manages the government’s accounting, central payment systems, and public debt; it serves essentially as the United States Government’s checking account and the payment rail for every federal agency. It also operates the TreasuryDirect website for purchasing Treasury securities.

Musk’s unelected gang of teens and twentysomethings will most likely do targeted searches through the data to cherry pick individual cases of “fraud,” and exaggerate them to create a panic that can be leveraged to justify extreme cuts to personnel and services.
