The key to understanding the Trump-Russia entanglements requires going back long before the 2016 presidential campaign, and looking at the parade of organized crime figures who passed through Trump Tower — or in some cases, did business with the Trump Organization, and even Trump himself.

Many of these shady figures stem from the countries of the former Soviet Union, have ties to the oligarchs and, through them, to the Kremlin itself. And there’s an FBI angle.

WhoWhatWhy has been at the forefront of investigating these astonishing relationships.

In this television interview, remarkably aired on the Russian-run English language news network RT, host Sean Stone asks Russ Baker about these issues, and deserves credit for doing so. However — references to oligarchs with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin and to organized crime were edited out by RT.

By the way, why not post the material deleted from the interview here?

Russ, been wondering, with the ongoing decline of RT reputation, which may be not much more than agency propaganda, whether your interests are served by these appearances. If the right pressure tactics are applied RT could collapse much like Fox and you would be tarnished by the same brush. Have been thinking this for months now, but Eric M.s comment below has emboldened me. Your comments about info being edited out from this should be ringing alarm bells.

Another connection to be ferreted out. Drip, drip, drip….The Russians have been enabled…Now what?

I’m pleased to see Russ take so much time with the Roy Cohn connection. Cohn was a linchpin of the McCarthy Red Smear Committee and contributed to the destruction of many lives. A 2016 article in the The Guardian on his relationship with Trump (“A Mentor in Shamelessness”) revealed that Cohn had browbeaten Ethel Rosenberg’s brother into testifying falsely against her. British double-agent Kim H. A. R. Philby wrote in his book My Secret War, that Ethel was innocent. She was executed along with her husband Julius. Like Russ said, with all of the murky interconnections, it’s difficult to determine who is a criminal or not. I don’t think The Toupee would be a very good informant. He seems to have an adversarial relationship with the truth.

    Trump … an FBI informant”…

Sorry… That’s one U-Turn that my intuition is not even remotely prepared to buy into. Because if that’s the story the FBI wants to sell us on, then there is zero future for America.

  6. Russ, you undermine your credibility when you appear on RT.

No, he doesn’t. RT is full of relevant reliable information from independent sources.
