With the Boston Marathon Bombing defense seeking a new trial, in part because of prejudicial media coverage, we figure this is a good time to remind people about one news organization that worked overtime to retain skepticism and agnosticism about the official position being disseminated through cooperative organs. When you read articles in the conventional media about the new development in the case, you may wish to post comments alerting readers to our work. One good link to the full collection of around 80 WhoWhatWhy articles can be found here. Some of the most thorough pieces will be found several pages back in the archive.

Could Google Search Destroy Free and Fair Elections?
By Jeff Schechtman
America’s next President might be put in office by Google. Either by the natural “trending” of the Google search algorithm — or by the invisible hand of a Google executive, manipulating the Search Engine. A new scientific study, by RadioWhoWhatWhy podcast guest Robert Epstein, clearly shows that the rankings in Google search results directly affect our voting behavior.

“The Iranian Threat”: Who Is the Gravest Danger to World Peace?
Noam Chomsky weighs-in on the battle over the Iran Nuclear Deal. He questions the basic premise for opposing the deal and the underlying US strategy. Everything is based on the assumption that Iran is a major threat to regional and global security. Instead, history and logic show, according to Chomsky, that the US has been the prime instigator of regional instability. Of course, history and logic rarely enter the discussion where Iran is concerned.

Judge says Hillary Clinton’s Private Emails Violated Policy
During a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) hearing regarding access to Hillary Clinton’s emails, a federal judge determined that the ex-Secretary of State violated government policy by using a private server. It’s just the latest blow to Hillary’s flagging campaign, which is struggling to tamp down the controversy. And today, Reuters foundthat many of the emails the State Dept. claimed were “misclassified” and, therefore, mistakenly routed through the server, were actually properly classified all along.

“Jewish Schindler” Saves Hundreds Of Christian Sex Slaves From ISIS
Montreal businessman Steve Maman is paying ISIS to release some of the estimated 2,700 Yazidi and Christian women currently being held in the Islamic State. Maman was first motivated by the massacre of 5,000 Yazidis in Iraq and has since been paying between $1,000 and $3,000 per person to secure the release of the captives. But critics fear that these payments are only fueling ISIS. Thus far, Maman has freed 128 captives and has a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $500,000 and is aiming for $2 million.

WHAT

It’s Official. Earth Just Had Its Hottest Month Ever Recorded
The NOAA just reported that July 2015 was the hottest month since humans began keeping records in the 1880s. The overall average temperature of 61.86 degrees Fahrenheit is 1.46 degrees warmer than the 20th-century average and 0.08 degrees warmer than the previous record set in 1998.

NASA Says the World is Not Going to End in September
NASA dispelled a rumor that a major asteroid was bearing down on the planet and was likely to wipe out mankind sometime over the next few weeks. On the other hand, a new report shows that humans have turned into “superpredators” and we are wiping out all-important apex species that keep ecosystems healthy.

WHY

The Circus Animal Unemployment Crisis
This is a good news/bad news story. The good news is that awareness of the often-terrible circumstances facing exotic animals in circuses and pseudo-zoos has led to a rapid decline in the most odious practices. The bad news is that this is creating a massive spike in “animal refugees” as circuses, animal displays and personal zoos are shut down. But a number of committed advocates — like Pat Craig, founder of The Wild Animal Sanctuary—toil tirelessly to maintain and expand costly refuges for the dislocated denizens. They are doing amazing work.
